When a Hemmings Auction listing ends without the vehicle meeting reserve and selling at auction, it
automatically becomes a Make Offer listing. Make Offer listings have a published asking price that is
typically set at 10% above the originally agreed upon reserve. Interested parties can make an offer on
the listing the same way they would place a bid. When an offer is made, the seller will receive an email
notification which will prompt them to log into their account to view the offer. The offer is valid for 48
hours. The seller can either accept the offer or make a counteroffer. When they accept the offer, the
vehicle is sold, and they are put in contact with the buyer to complete the sale. If they make a
counteroffer, the potential buyer has 48 hours to respond to the counteroffer.
Make Offer listings appear on the Hemmings Auctions page and receive the same heavy promotion that
an auction listing receives. They come to the top of any search across all of Hemmings’ platforms. People
who had been watching the auction listing continue to be notified of changes and activity in the listing
when it is converted to a Make Offer listing.
